Our unmissable Duomo Tour in Milan!

Here at Walkabout Tours, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that we provide a wide range of Milan tours. And a trip to Milan simply wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Duomo – Italy’s largest church (as St Peter’s is technically in The Vatican, not Italy) and the fourth largest church in the world! Milan Cathedral is called Duomo di Milano in Italian, which just means ‘Church of Milan’.  The Italian name for the church is why the structure is often simply referred to as the Duomo. They first started building this epic cathedral in 1386, and different sections were added gradually, over the years. The Duomo was only considered ‘complete’ in 1965! This Duomo di Milano Tour is worth visiting in its own right, but it’s great when combined with a more general tour, such as our Free Milan Walking Tour or our Private Milan Tour.

Skip-the-line access to the Duomo

Find out the history of Milan’s most famous building and admire the stunning architecture. This 2-hours 30-minute Duomo tour will tell you the cathedral’s story, while also allowing you to skip the lines. Admire the Duomo’s exteriors, the beautiful interior ornamentations, and climb to its rooftop on the elevator to enjoy a truly breath-taking view of Milan.

On clear days, from the terrazza you’ll be able to see beyond Milan, to the snow-capped peaks of the Alps. You will also be able to see the famous Madonnina, the gold-coloured statue of Mary standing atop the Duomo’s highest spire. As well as giving you the history of the Duomo, your experienced tour guide will take you through the almost countless artworks that decorate this incredible gothic masterpiece. After the tour, you will be able to visit the Duomo Museum and San Gottardo Church on your own. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about visiting the Duomo or any aspect of this Duomo tour.
